Most organisations send a receipt. Far fewer send a thank-you. The difference is not the template; it is whether the message sounds like a person who noticed the gift.

Send it where they gave

When the donation is confirmed, the thank-you should arrive in the same WhatsApp chat the donor used a minute ago. No inbox to check, no spam folder, no login.

Make it specific

  • Name the cause: “JazakAllah khair for supporting the Qur'an class seats.”
  • Say what it does: “That covers a student's place for the whole term.”
  • Include the reference so the donor can find it again at tax time.

Keep the receipt useful

Donors who itemise will look for the amount, the date, your organisation's legal name and whether they received anything in return. Put those details in one short block, not scattered through a long letter. Your accountant can confirm the exact wording your organisation needs.

Follow up once, with news

A single update when the project is finished, with a photo of the new carpet or the class in session, is worth more than any number of appeals. It closes the loop, and it is the reason people give again.
