“We need $250,000 for the expansion” has been written on masjid banners for decades. What donors rarely see is how close the masjid is to that number. Without progress, a goal feels permanent, and permanent goals stop feeling urgent.

Pick goals people can picture

Break large projects into pieces a donor can see in their mind: the prayer hall carpet, the wudu area, one classroom, thirty iftar meals. A $12,000 carpet that is 70% funded invites a gift today. A quarter-million-dollar total invites a nod.

Count everything that was raised

Include money raised before you started online giving, and cash from the Friday box, so the percentage is honest. Donors notice when a progress bar stands still for months while the building work visibly moves on.

Say what happens when it is funded

Add one line to each cause: what the money buys, and what you will do if you raise more than the goal. When a cause is fully funded, mark it as such rather than removing it. A wall of completed causes is the best advert your masjid has.

Share milestones, not pressure

An update at 50%, 75% and 100% is welcome news to people who gave. Daily countdowns are not. Transparency builds trust precisely because it is calm, factual and regular.
