For many masjids, Ramadan brings in more donations than the other eleven months combined. It is also the month when volunteers have the least spare time. The work that makes Ramadan giving smooth has to happen before the crescent is sighted.
Four weeks before
- Set up your Ramadan causes: Iftar sponsorship, Zakat al-Fitr, a Last Ten Nights appeal and any project you plan to announce.
- Give each project a goal so the giving page shows real progress from the first day.
- Print the QR poster for the entrance, the wudu area and the sisters' section.
The first week
Share the giving link on your community WhatsApp channels once, with one clear ask. Iftar sponsorships work well early: donors like seeing a date next to their name, and the limited places create a gentle deadline.
The last ten nights
This is when intention is highest. Keep the message short: one cause, one link, one reminder on the odd nights at most. People who have opted in to updates are happy to hear from you; everyone else should only see the poster and the Jummah announcement.
Before Eid prayer
Zakat al-Fitr must reach the people who need it in time, so close the Zakat al-Fitr cause early enough for your distribution team, and say so on the cause itself. Mark iftar dates as fully funded as they fill up, so late donors are directed to causes that still need help.
After Eid
Send a thank-you update with the totals: meals served, families supported, progress on the building. It is the message donors remember when next Ramadan comes around.
